A Plea for Your Vote

Did you see the first lady’s speech?  If not, you may want to watch it on YouTube…if you are of voting age, and you are registered you SHOULD watch it.

I did.  Laying in bed between my two perfect little girls, I watched the First Lady speak about the upcoming election and all that is at stake.  She didn’t have to utter the name of Hillary Clinton’s opposition for us to know who she was talking about. He-who-should-not-be-named lit up the press again with his lewdness.

There’s something about watching an election as an expat that allows for a certain level of clarity.  My election conversations are not with my friends I’ve grown up with, my family, or my countrymen (in many cases).  And so, I get to see what they see: humor that turned to disbelief that turned to disgust.

I get it.

Because I am disgusted that there are people (potentially reading this now) who would consider voting for a present day Voldemort.

I am an educator–so Day of the Girl meant something to me too.  All over the world girls have to fight for their right to education, freedom to choose their future career or husband, and/or survival.  Here in Mexico there are areas that JUST registered the female native population.  In the United States women who work just as hard as men (or arguably harder) are in many cases still paid less.

And yet, here we are.

Did you know that when women received the right to vote that the final voice chiming in for ratification was a young man from Tennessee?  His mama had sent him a note imploring him to wisely stand up for what was right, and he did (much to the dismay of his constituents).

I beg of you, vote wisely.

This is not something that we can ignore. It’s not something we can just sweep under the rug as just another disturbing footnote in a sad election season. Because this was not just a “lewd conversation”. This wasn’t just locker-room banter. This was a powerful individual speaking freely and openly about sexually predatory behaviour…

The First Lady says the men in her life don’t talk like that, and I feel the same.  I’ve NEVER heard my father, uncles, brothers, or husband talk like that.  Of course, they never made fun of immigrants, people with special needs, or plus size women either.  They were raised to respect others, not lie, cheat, and abuse them.

And I know it’s a campaign, but this isn’t about politics. It’s about basic human decency. It’s about right and wrong. And we simply cannot endure this, or expose our children to this any longer – not for another minute, and let alone for four years. Now is the time for all of us to stand up and say enough is enough. This has got to stop right now.

You know, I’ve had people in my own family say they just wouldn’t be voting this election.  The options are not options they are happy with, so they just will leave this one up to God.

In her speech, Mrs. Obama says something I want to share: One of these two people WILL be voted on next term as president of our country.  Don’t sit this out.  Don’t vote for someone who hasn’t got a chance of winning to prove a point.  Think of all that is at stake if we elect a national disaster (and embarrassment) as our leader.

And finally, think of my family.  Sometime in the next four years we will probably try to move home.  If you elect someone into office who makes ignorant, hateful statements about immigrants, what does that do for my family?

Be responsible.  Vote responsibly.  And think of us when you bubble in, punch, or press your option for the next president of The United States of America.

  1. Dear Jania,
I feel a need to add to your thoughts. I’m having a very difficult time myself with this election because we do not have an obvious good to chose from. I am not going to defend Trump. I was a Cruz supporter and am disappointed that he is no longer an option. Cruz is a moral, God fearing man and a defender of the constitution which protects all human kind in this country. But though I cannot defend Trump’s mouth and attitude towards women, his casinos, nor his campaign contributions to Obama in the previous election 8 years ago, I cannot support Hillary either. You neglect to mention her immoral treatment of the women herself that her husband abused that she worked hard to destroy in order to protect her political career tied to her husband’s career and bury their stories and deafened her ears to their cries. Nor can I ignore her theft from the White House as her husband’s term came to an end, her anti Christian support for abortion telling Christians they will have to “get over their values”, and her idolizing of Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood (which I might add is racial in its intent and it’s affect as 80% of abortions are of Black babies) and which organization makes large donations to Hillary’s campaign and sells baby parts. Nor can I ignore Hillary’s foul language and mistreatment of the agents and other workers assigned to serve and protect her. Nor can I ignore her anti 2nd amendment stance which would prevent us from protecting ourselves from criminals, or even our own government which was the original intent of the amendment, and her failure to protect our embassy in Benghazi, ignoring their many requests for help even after other countries shut down their own embassies because of unrest in Libya, lying to the family members of those who died, her treasonous activity in selling arms to ISIS which she was covering, her lying under oath both regarding Benghazi and her illegal use of a private email server which allowed top government national security secrets to be viewed by our enemies and lying about that under oath, stonewalling requests from Congress for over a year to see her records, but instead bleach-bit destroyed them, her lack of accounting for millions of dollars of tax payer money that disappeared while she was Secretary of State, her support of socialism or redistribution of wealth which is unethical and unChristian in principle, which steals from those who earned it and gives to those who haven’t instead of allowing Christian charity to work in the lives of people who truly need the help, but instead puts many into a position of being beholding to their government for their income, making them compromised into voting for unholy leaders that promise continuance of their financial support and which government program doesn’t really help them get off of government aid, and her support of Obamacare which has been a financial fiasco that has caused the cost of healthcare to rise (as seen in our own paychecks) and penalizes those who don’t have coverage (it’s on our 1040 IRS forms if you don’t believe me). Even Bernie Sanders complained of how she was elected unfairly by her own Democratic Party to represent them and which caused a whistle blower to be murdered leading to another scandal surrounding her. The Democratic Party has a large financial influence over the media, so I don’t blame you for not getting more factual stories on the scandals that surround her or the news of the wiki-leaks that keep revealing more of her lies and treasonous activity. Anyone else would have been in prison for far less than what she has done!!! Her favors as Secretary of State to foreigners for their donations to the corrupt Clinton Foundation that accepts their bribes, err donations, where only 10% actually goes to charity. Even the president of Haiti has called the Clinton’s thieves because very little of the money donated by individuals to the Foundation to help in their previous natural disaster ever reached the Haitians, and our current president has mentioned their current disaster very little. (Did you know about the private penthouse suite at the top floor of the Foundation building where Bill lives and plays with his girlfriends that he regularly invites there?) For all of her talk about wanting to help the little guy, and the blacks, why did she not do more for them when she was Senator for many years? Instead the policies that she and our current president support have created more poverty in America, more sickness (TB on the rise from immigrants not screened) due to lack of much needed immigration reform, more loss of wealth from families as jobs leave our country and those retired or retiring see their lifetime savings disappear as our economy plummets and taxes rise, a weakening of our military making us vulnerable to invasion, more division in racial strife created for political gain causing police officers to be murdered, and private businesses and private property to be destroyed in riots, more loss of religious freedom and historical mention of God on government property erased, removed or banned, Christmas programs banned from schools, more loss of control by families over their children’s education in the schools as the government uses funding to whip the schools into obeying their unholy social re-engineering agendas and coed bathroom mandates forced upon the schools while performance scores continue to fall (why doesn’t she support school choice??), more loss of religious freedom as pastors fear to speak politically (see God is Not Dead 2–did you hear that national leaders of many churches around the country recently signed together a letter sent to Congress about their fear of losing religious freedom in America? probably not), and more fear by the citizens that we are likely to be facing a Civil War as a great division continues over whether American citizens still rule their government, or the reverse?? Our country was founded on religious moral principles for a moral people, and as James Madison said, it is wholly inadequate for the government of any other. We are facing a very serious situation in our country. There are unholy people, enemies within colluding with enemies without our country to take control away from the people. As you remember, our nation was instituted unlike any other in the world, where it was to be governed of the people, for the people and by the people, but we the people are losing the ability to govern ourselves. Basically, as our country has strayed further from God, we are reaping what we have sown, and we are about to feel the consequences and are facing our own destruction, just as Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians and again by the Romans when they were not obedient to God. Did you know that Hillary’s master’s thesis was based upon her interviews of and study of Saul Alinsky and his theories written in his book “Rules for Radicals”? Did you know Saul Alinsky wrote his theories based upon his study and association with the famous gangster Al Capone?? Hillary leads like a gangster! I am sorry, but I cannot support Hillary. She neither supports men, women, babies or families. She only supports herself and her unholy quest for power, which as you know if you read your Bible was the cause for Cain to kill his brother Abel. Power and gain are evil tools of the devil, who wants to destroy everyone or make them subject to himself and be miserable like he is. When he gets people to not believe in the reality of God, then they don’t suspect he is real either and so are blind to his work among us as he covertly works to destroy us all. Read some of the works of C S Lewis! He understood. Education is wonderful but without God in their lives you raise educated clever devils. God has been removed from the public schools of America, our pledge of allegiance, our courtrooms, and I too am concerned for the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of our family. I too don’t like Trump, nor can I defend him, but I am even more frightened of Hillary! We may not like Trump’s attitude toward women, but what Hillary has done is even worse. Pray for us!! We need to return to God if there is to be any hope for us. Love you Jania! Aunt Sandy

  2. I’m with you Jania! 100%. I am not going to get into any arguments with how people feel about Hilary, hatred which I don’t comprehend. But am am not frightened by her being president. Maybe they didn’t actually hear the recording of Trump talking about assaulting women without their permission. I did, and as Michelle said, I am shaken to the core and sickened at the thought of Trump being the president of the greatest country in the world. I’ve been grabbed and groped and assaulted by men who thought they could because I was just a female and they were bosses, rich or popular musicians. I don’t want our girls or boys, thinking that’s ok or the norm. A person like that must not be a leader. That’s not even started on his not paying his vendors, not paying taxes, and his temper.
